Be still my beating heart

As I gaze upon "suppos-ed" art
That hangs on walls
Of Museums large and small.

Be still my beating heart

As I think about the part
Where my tax dollars, which were hard earned

Go to the NEA to burn.

Be still my beating heart
Cause it is racing just thinking about the money that is wasted on supporting "artists" that don't have a single talented bone in their bodies and get paid OUT OF OUR TAXES to "develop" and display vulgar, disgusting, trash like THIS and call it art!!!! Geesh crap like this degrades true artists and their work. I don't care how liberal you might be...but you got's to be purty darn stupid to want to support this kind of stuff...man this makes my blood boil..if you want to see some REAL ART...go HERE!

Now modern art isn't really up my alley, but I've seen some modern art that I've liked...but what I really enjoy, is "something that I can see and know what the heck it is"! I would prefer to look upon a "piece" that brings a smile to my face... or something that causes an "aaaaaaaaaaaah" moment.

Out in Colorado they've got this GIANT UGLY BLUE statue of a horse with glowing red eyes, that stands up on its rear legs to "great?" all to the airport. This THING, I think, would give me nightmares if I wasn't a little "drugged" whenever I arrive at, or depart from, the Denver Airport! Spend my tax money on road improvements, national safety, even Social Security -even though we probably won't see a penny of it when we become eligible, unless taxes are jacked up even higher , which means that we will have less to spend of our hard earned now.. and Uh-Oh...

Sorry...I forgot that I was writing bad poetry...)

Oh be still my beating heart
I will enjoy art
That uplifts and brings joy

And that ain't no ploy!

Well at least some of it rhymed!

AND - I don't mean to be callas, as to the death of the artist who died while creating the above mentioned statue...I just can't believe how the costs continued to escalate and that it wasn't completed anywhere near on time and that the thing is kind of ugly and...well you get my drift, don't you? To be fair, the NEA does fund a lot of shows on PBS that I've really enjoyed, and I have seen some cool "structures" of modern art that were kind of fun to look at, and sometimes I don't have a clue about what's going on, sooooooooooooooooooo
as Roseanne Rosannadanna would say...
"Never Mind"!
(Except for the part about the NEA funding disgusting art and the thing about the ugly horse, and about not relating to modern art and...Okay I am now going to take my foot out of my mouth, and put some chocolate in!)

This is what I feel like this morning...AND I DON"T DRINK!

I lived through yesterday. It was long, and cold (every classroom was like a meat locker), and filled with loud, obnoxious teenagers. I started keeping myself entertained be keeping track of how many times I heard the S word (both the three letter and the four letter), the D word, and the F word. I gave up when I ran out of paper, and my pen went dry.

Is this what it's really like in high school classrooms across the country? I may have a poor memory but I KNOW that kids didn't behave like this when I was in school - even with a sub!!!

And I don't think that they were this bad when my kids were in high school.

To be fair and honest, I did have 2 classes of well behaved, quiet kids, who did their work, and were pleasant to be around.

But the rest of them were a mess. They got up and wandered around the classroom, moving chairs as desks. They talked as loud as they wanted. Throughout the day, I saw the following items fly across the rooms:
Paper
Pens
Pencils
Notebooks
Books
Purses
Decks of Cards
Lipsticks
Tampons
Soda Cans
Water Bottles
Gum
Trash

At least nobody hit me in the head with an eraser this time!

I played stupid and didn't even ask, or look to see if either of the teachers had morning, lunch or afternoon duty.
I wasn't anywhere near an adult bathroom (there are laws that prohibit adults from using the same facilities as the youth - in public schools), so the pushing fluids wasn't an option. I did make a pit stop when "floating" from the morning assignment to the afternoon classes.

Please, please, please - oh wise ones who come to my most humble site...Tell my how I can make a few bucks from home, so that I don't ever feel compelled to go back to school again?
Puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze?

I have this "blown up" and on the cover of my "substitute notebook". It never fails to attract the attention of the teachers. The antics of Danae and Lucy, in Wiley Millers Cartoon Strip - Non Sequiter (latin for "it does not follow"), never fails to bring a smile to my face.

I promised to sub today, at the high school, for 2 different teachers. Morning classes for one and afternoon classes for the other. I don't even know if I get a break, and with my luck, I'll have morning, lunch, and afternoon "duty". On top of that I have a UTI, a fever, and I have to push fluids. Do you get a picture of what my day is going to be like? If I survive, I'll check on everyone's posts this afternoon. Pray for me...PLEASE!
